Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of arthritis found among older adults. The disease occurs when cartilage found at the end of the bones begin to deteriorate, resulting in joint stiffness and joint pain. Other symptoms include swelling around the joints and limited range of motion. Although the disease can occur anywhere in the body, it is most commonly found in joints around the hands, knees, and hips. As a result, ordinary activities such as climbing stairs or using a pencil become very frustrating and worsen as the disease progresses.
Our physical therapists at Millennium Physical Therapy can help patients with osteoarthritis regain these motor functions. Through an individualized treatment plan, our physical therapists can help to alleviate the symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.
